Writing to Win Solutions
Whether you are looking for new journal writing routines, a routine for teaching language skills in the context of writing or a way to recognize your student and teacher achievement in writing, Writing to Win has a writing solution for you.
Below you will find a variety of Writing to Win Solutions to meet your needs.....
Writing to Win Exemplary Schools of Writing
You are coridally invited to particiapte in the recognition of the 2007 Writing to Win Exemplary Schools of Writing. Correlated to the Georgia Performance Standards (GPS), Writing to Win positions 11 standards
for writing as goals for administrators and teachers to reach. Three involve short journal writing
across the curriculum and eight involve long process writing. Schools with 80% of their teachers
who meet these standards achieve exemplary status and exceed the standards of the GPS for
writing, conventions and reading across the curriculum.
If your school is meeting the Georgia Performance Standards for writing then you are meeting
the Writing to Win standards for Exemplary recognition. Your school deserves recognition for
student achievement.
If your school has yet to set and work a plan for meeting the standards of the GPS for writing,
conventions and reading across the curriculum, we can offer you support and provide you with
the solution for your writing needs.

Writing to Win Needs Assessment for Writing in Your School
If there’s anything standards-based learning has taught us, it is the value of students reading and writing every day in every subject.
Conclusions from research of school reform demonstrate that consistent writing overcomes low student performance on tests of
knowledge in all subjects. The research of Douglas Reeves concludes that the greatest gains in achievement arise from
consistent non-fiction assessments of what students are learning in every subject (The Learning Leader, ASCD, 2005).
Rick Stiggins’ research adds the important role of student self-assessment. Rei Noguchi establishes sentence-combining instruction as the most effective way to teach grammar. These conclusions offer sound advice; they also confirm and refine what Writing to Win has been about since the mid 1980s. Your students deserve the best instruction available today.
In order to assist you in assessing your needs for writing we have compiled a list of commonly-voiced problems and paired them with a Writing to Win Solution that has worked for others. If you recognize any of these problems in your school/district, contact us to arrange a Writing to Win solution.
